E-mail based web site management

THIS WEEK NetSpeak explores yet another innovative Net service built around the e-mail technology, a service that enables the user to update web pages through e-mail.

Though e-mail is a tool that has been developed to send messages to others, the service is being deployed creatively to implement many other Net services. The technology is used to fetch web pages, collect newsgroup postings, and download files from FTP servers. For example, we can collect web pages by sending an e-mail with the web pages' addresses in the subject or body of the message, to web@pagegetter.com. After the message delivery, you will receive the requested web page with all the component files embedded in it. For more details visit the site: http://www.pagegetter.com. This subject has already been discussed in this column.
